dvd glitching

I was not sure where to post this. so sorry if it is in the wrong spot.

I have had this problem every time I copy a dvd. When I burn 700mb AVI I do not.
The dvd seems to glitch are jerk are stop\then go. while I am watching them.
I am at the belief that this happens because of programs running in the background while I am burning the dvd. is there any way of stoping this.

burning a dvd is a lot more intensive than a cd, the technology and technique must be better

post a burn log would help us to understand what's happening, it's not usually other programs running
