Editing Out Unwanted Audio Portions...?

I am editing a film with Video Studio 6, Mini-DV format, to be transferred to
DVD upon completion. However, there are footage sequences containing
unwanted audio portions on the sound track that spoil the footage (audio from camera operator comments picked up by the camera mic).

Is there any way to "strip out"/edit the unwanted audio portions with a program like Sound Forge Audio Studio?

What exactly do you mean "strip out"? Any audio editing application should be capable of silencing or replacing parts of an audio stream. Freeware Audacity, for example.

I think he is talking about the audio in a video file, if so then he need a video editing program to edit the audio directly or extract the audio for editing in external program and get it back to the video file again
