4:3 to 16:9 avi in virtual dub - help!

    hi,

just wondering if 624x352 is good for avi widescreen? cause i got a bunch of them as 4:3 that i recorded. i tested it and used virtualdub's resize filter... i just want to know if i can keep the same file size or does it have to get bigger cause of the widescreen? also, how would i go about keeping the same quality without using compression or do i have to compress no matter what?
