Youtube/Google/Other Videos Stalling

Anyone else have the problem of videos "stalling" when viewing on youtube, google, etc.? Seems like it happens everytime I go to one of those sites.

The "buffer" doesn't stay filled & then the video catches up with it & it stops. At that point I have to start the video over again. After a 1/2 dozen tries or so, I can just about watch the whole thing!

I could understand it if I was on dialup, but I have a 6 Mbit connection...

I think you should wait till the completion of the buffer sesstion..
that is just click the 'pause' button untill the movie is fully downloaded..

I do that, but sometimes I can sit there for 10 min., maybe more to view a 5-7 min. music video. Seems excessive to me.

I have Comcast as well; are you familiar with the bandwith test that Comcast provides?
http://www.comcast.speedtest.net/ It is a neat deal; I use it to check speeds from various servers in different locations, esp. if I notice that my connection seems to be slow.

I have used a program in the past that will capture youtube/google & other clips from video sites.

It was not a firefox based program; you would browse to the URL of the video that you wanted to download, & this nifty pgm. would capture it for you.

I can't rem. what it was; does anyone know what the program is?

streaming?

Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of streaming video? My download speed usually hovers around 1440 kbps, and my computer is by no means a powerhouse PC, yet any streaming videos I watch start playing as soon as I press play, and do not stall at all.

I use Firefox 2.0.0.2. If the video will not play *at all*, I use IE6.

Sure does. However, that is what I always seem to end up doing; On just about every video, as soon as it starts playing, I have to hit pause to let the buffer fill up.

It can take over 10 minutes to fill for a 5 min. video, & sometimes it doesn't fill up at all, so I just end up forgetting about it & doing something else. I have a 6 M/bit connection, so I can't really understand what the problem is.

As far as capturing the video, I have been using FF & unplug, but I know there is another program out there to download the videos, I just haven't found it yet (again).

drf,

I found that site in a google search, but I can't ever get the page to load to check out the software! Does the page open up for you?

Just tried it here and it took a long time to load the main page. I was able to get to the download page but it was also slow.

Still having Major problems with streaming! I found a video I wanted to view, approx. 2 min. in length. Clicked on it, buffer did not fill. I paused it, came back 1/2 hr. later, & the buffer hardly moved at all.

Is this the norm for youtube/google video streams? I have only started to use those sites in the last couple of weeks, & that has been my experiences.

Here is a link to the video I am currently waiting on - it has been something like 50 min. at this point!

Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.
