How to play MPG file

I have spiderman the movie, I am pretty certain it's MPEG 2
which I think is SVCD but not certain (hence the general sectino)

what can I use to play this as wmp does not like it!

You need to install a DVD-Player like PowerDVD or WinDVD. After the installation you might also be able to play the MPEG2 in WMP.

you sure it's MPEG2? if it is, then media player should be able to play it, here it has no trouble playing back svcd encodes

THanks guys, I installed WINDVD and it played it fine, after the installation it still did not play under WMP

One more q.

TMPGenc will not open me the file, im at work atm so I canot test this out, could I open the file in say virtualdub, save it as an avi in full processing mode, then save as an avi using divx?

The movie is spiderman and as it aint released where I am yet I wanna get a decent copy so I can put it on vcd/vcd

as this svcd wont play on the dvd players, gay, but anyhow, could I do the above mentioned process???

And yes, I am certain it is an MPEG2
