Computer Rebates (hardware & Software) Something to think about!

It could Happen to me but in 20 years I've only never received one.. That I can stand. But It could to all of us..
You should take time and READ the article and see some of the reasons WHY people never get them back!

This line made me laugh but I know it can be true "Credit this bonanza for retailers and suppliers partly to human nature. Many consumers are just too lazy, forgetful, or busy to apply for rebates: Call it a tax on the disorganized. Others think the 50 cents, $50 -- or even $200 -- is just not worth the hassle of collecting."

    ADVICE FOR GETTING YOUR REBATE

Save all the packaging. You'll probably need the UPC code, a proof of purchase or a serial number.

Get an original receipt -- and get multiple copies of the receipt if you have more than one rebate.

Follow the instructions on the rebate form EXACTLY -- such as drawing a circle (not an underline or an arrow) around the product, date and price on the receipt.

Copy all your documents -- even the envelope.

Note the deadline. Some rebate offers give you as little as a week to apply.

If your check doesn't arrive by the time it should have, complain to the retailer, manufacturer and rebate-fulfillment center. And complain to the Better Business Bureau and Federal Trade Commission if you don't get satisfaction. Contact info is available at www.techbargains.com/rebates.cfm.

Beware of checks mailed in junk mail-type envelopes.

There is an idea for a business, get all those people to send all the paper work to you & you send it in. Even if you made a deal that as soon as the rebate came back, you would give them back 25% of what it was, you would still make a fortune.

      Just read that.

I am one who hates mail-in rebates.

I will look around for better deals before I will buy something with a mail-in rebate.
      (Pay more most times.)
I have had some of the bad rebate issues.

I have a check from Tax???? that was not signed.
To lazy to jump thru hoops to get it again.

      And I don't even Drink.

            Hey,

            Do you take unsigned checks?

I thought about just signing it, but my wife, how had tryed to deposit it before she realized it was not signed, threw it away.

            Maybe next time.

I just love free or cheap after rebates Maybe I have been lucky but I got everone so far. Just sent in 2 more, 1 for the Ultra case FAR and 1 for an Antec SLK1650 case with a 350 WATT PSU and 120mm fan for $9.99. The best and easiest so far for me are the Staple erebates. No problem there either.

I hate them too... I have had a good track record with rebates, but I am currently waiting on (2) from 12/06 that I don't expect to see...My feeling is, if the company wants to give me a great deal so bad, why not stop playing games & just give me the lower price right away...

But I guess that is what they call "creative marketing"...

I agree they should just sell OTD at the post rebate price :iagree: I think the places offering the rebates bank on people being lazy, forgetful or not completing the rebate right. Some rebates state up to 8-12 weeks to receive the rebate and then if not to contact them. I save copies of everything and send them in certified mail and sometimes with return receipt too depending upon the size of the rebate.

Yeah, & probably some companies just throw the rebate forms in the trash when they receive them anyway. A couple of years ago, I had to fight like heck to get $100 back in cell phone rebates.

They gave me every excuse in the book, but finally sent me the check. Just a side note; be sure to make a photocopy of the filled out rebate form before sending in, & also the receipt. That way you have proof!

And copies of anything else ya sent in, UPCs or whatever.

Thats why I send them certified mail so they can't say they didn't get it and a return receipt is even better yet.

                          Yeah..
.50 cent certified vs. getting screwed to the tune of $40.00 for example.. it pays, I did the same as you when I sent the case rebates!
