SYNC Problem Please Help

I keep having a sync problem (sound to picture) when I burn my avi files with nero. Also if I watch the file using nero or media player, I have a sync problem. If I watch it with VLC Player there is no problem. But I real want to burn these files to disc (I want the files off the computer). So what can I do to fix the sync problem with burning?

I'm having the same problem, only with TMPG DVD Author. Oddly, the (cheapo lame) software that came pre-installed on my pc, Sonic MyDVD, doesn't cause the audio lag. TMPG tech support had me going into preferences to uncheck certain decoders, but that never solved the problem.

Did Nero come pre installed on your pc? If not, what did? Maybe/have you used that. As I said MyDVD doesn't create the lag for me, but I hate how limited it is re it's menu templates and graphics, etc. .
A time consuming option, would be to convert them to another format. Rub a search here for a program called SUPER, which is free, and find it's download link, and try using it to convert the avi's to another video format. I tried doing that with a program called Dr Divx, but the lag still happened when I used TMPG.

If you are talking about divx avi then try to uncheck "Output YUV 4:2:0 when supported" in the divx playback configuration.

The software that came with my disc drive was WINDVD, I bought nero to use for burning and other things.

As for the computer its home built and 3 years old, spec are:
3.2 intel chip
3 giga of ram
video card is a nvida 7200 with 512, ddr2 ram.
motherboard is ASUS P4P 800
OS is windows XP Pro

Did you find a solution to the synch problems?

I discovered a free dvd authoring program here on the board that successfully creates a dvd folder of my avi files, without the audio lag. It's called DVD Flick http://www.dvdflick.net/. and it can also create an ISO file that your burning software can burn to a disc. Simple to use as well. Creating a dvd folder with three 22min avi's took 1 hr, 10mins to build.
No menus, but, being able to watch them on a tv, rather than pc monitor, it's worth it.
