i have a new website but i need to direct traffic to it

so i am trying to put together this new website but it cant be a success until i find some way to direct traffic towards it. I know i have to Add a description and meta keywords but i don't know what the right description should be because i dont want my little site to compete eith like 40000 other sites does anyone know if there is a programme or something that would help me choose the right metatags so that i wouldn't have to compete with thousands of sites?? thanks
