    Newbie Needs Help

Hello. Long time reader first time poster. lol. Need some help. I have an optriarc dvd+-RW 3579-A drive. recently tried to do a backup dvd with Sony dvd-r and the drive will not even read the blank disk. I have used this type of blankmedia for a while now. I have just purchased a new pack of them and have had succesful burns with them. All of a sudden though they will not read in my desktops drive but the will still read in my craptops drive. Could someone please help me with this?

assuming you have dvddecrypter and/or imgburn, try putting a blank in and see if either program sees the drive and displays some information in the right window

      iso write mode usually works

I do have dvddecrypter. I tried that and yes it will read the disk as blank media and then my drive will finally read the disk, but then i'll try to make the backup ( this time I tried burning w/dvddecrpter) and it says this disk is not empty.

put a blank back in dvddecrypter after a clean boot/reboot and copy and paste the right hand screen showing burner/firmware/media code

that gear and sonic stuff gets easily corrupted and can even cause your drives to disappear

course your drive could be dying?

best to test a burn with another software after removing the filter drivers
from sonic and gear and rebooting

you can always reinstall them later
