want to convert vob files for my chipod

ant to copy some of my kids dvds onto my chipod. I can use amv converter to convert avi to amv, but need to convert dvds to avi. I am trying to use virtualdub, but am struggling with the audio. i understand virtualdub is not too good with vob files, bt is much better at processig avis.

What is the best free vob to avi converter, and is there any links to it on here

    thanks

I think one of those inexpensive Chinese portable music/video players found on eBay. (Though IIRC the Apple iPod is also assembled in China, under horrid conditions)

            A chipod is

a cheap ipod clone mass-produced in china and sold by ebay sellers from hong kong for £20-£30 for a 2gb player, that can also play 'amv' files, a format specifically produced for these players, which is poor quality, but i think is a series of jpegs run at 10 fps. Not brilliant, but what would be when viewed on a 1.5inch screen. However, i am happy to pay £25 for a 2gb mp3 player with miminal video capabilities so my son can watch a few programs o it whilst in the car etc.
