    I hope I never caused offence. I was thinking about this yesterday and I wondered what you might have thought over it.
    No offenses, lol. Everyone has their own preferences. I probably wouldn't mind the W/S tv so much, if Most of the dvd's I see on them would display w/o the bars, but that doesn't seem to be the case in the ones that I see. However, blutach (I believe) posted a solution in an earlier thread;

    If you turn the lights out when watching the movie, you don't even notice the bars! I may have to try that!

    BTW, for what its' worth; I absolutely love my W/S monitor! I wouldn't go back to a "square" CRT for anything! (& I know you said once that you don't like W/S monitors, lol!

      To get rid of the black bars on some movies, I have used DVD Rebuilder with filter setting LanczosResize(720, 480, 90, 60, 540, 360). It does cut some of the picture on the sides but the movie then fills the screen.
      I don't do this to all. Just some.
