Can someone please tell me their opinion as to what is the best 1080p 42" or 46" LCD TV to purchase around $2,000 and where the best place is to purchase it? Thanks.

Sharp-LC-42D62U 42in HDTV
AQUOS liquid crystal television
1080p with two HDMI inputs
Best Buy, circuit city, and Nebraska furniture Mart for approximately $1875. Local stores will compete for the best price.
Also, BEST PRICE at http://www.bestbuyplasma.com. $1399.
But I would not trust this location (internet ordering only) and no warranty on shipping.
I am waiting on sales at best buy, circuit city, or Nebraska furniture mart and pick one up.Last edited by ed klein; 2 Jun 2007, 01:54 AM.Comment

Ask the retailer about service after the sale, their policy regarding warranty issues, exchanges and if their service center is local or requires travel time for a tech or sending the unit to a shop located elsewhere, and if it does have to go to a shop, does the retailer offer a "loaner" while yours is at the doctor.
LCD sets are the best way to go for the long run since there is no tube to develop "burn-in's". LCD sets use far less energy and produce far less heat than the plasma units. The newest plasma units do have better plasma tubes that have less chance of the "burn-in's" but even those can still get the burn-in eventually.
Plus, a 46 inch LCD unit puts less strain on the wall than a plasma unit of equal size. The LCD units weight is considerably less and wont require monster bolts and mounting hardware to hang on the wall.Comment

Thanks....I have one more question. I am not going to have an HD signal. I am going to only have DirecTV with their regular digital signal. Will I still get a good picture with either of the TV's listed above? Or is there a different TV that I should get with only a digitial signal to have a good picture?Comment

If your going to use a HDTV for a SD analog or digital video signal (sat or cable company)the best video picture from best to worst is normally:
1. component connection
2. S video connection
3. composite connection
If your going to use a HDTV for a HD digital video signal the best in normally the HDMI connection but, I have seen some VERY CLOSE 2nd place component HD digital signal connections.Last edited by ed klein; 4 Jun 2007, 01:20 AM.Comment
