After DVD shrink starts to burn using nero, it stops half way through the process and says error burning failed. Can anyone help?

The best thing to do would be create an ISO and manually burn using Imgburn...in the mean time post a log from Nero so we can take a look at it.
If this is turns out to be a protection issue we won't be able to help you...

I suggested using an ISO image to try and get you away from Nero as it can be picky and create a lot of headaches. An ISO contains all the same files that a VIDEO_TS folder contains but puts it all in a nice neat little package. You need Imgburn to burn ISO images.

A neat way to burn a VIDEO_TS folder with Imgburn 2.x is a .NET
freeware called ImgBurn DVD-Video Shell Ext v1.2
You can download from this page:
When you right click the mouse on a VIDEO_TS folder
"burn with Imgburn" is in the context menu.
It just launches Imgburn "build mode" with all the right settings.Comment
