Ive made a slideshow through Windows movie maker. I saved it as an AVI. I have burnt 3 copies via nerovision. A VCD on a DVD-r, a VCD on a CD-r, and an SVCD on a CD-r. NONE OF THEM PLAY ON MY PLAYERS. My Sony DVD player is about 5 years old. And then I have to cheapies from Walmart(probobly APEX). Do I just need a new DVD player?!
Do all new(er) DVD players play VCD?

I would give up on VCD/SVCD, and just make DVDs - VCD/SVCDs had their day when DVD recordables were more expensive, but they aren't all that attractive now.
As a rule, those cheaper DVD players from China will usually play a lot more formats than the more expensive Japanese/European brand/produced ones, mainly because VCD/SVCD was more popular in China. -

JHate83: if your players say they support VCD/SVCD, then perhaps it's the media that is the problem? Try using CD-R media only, and burning at a lower speed perhaps?
But as I've said, it's much better to just make DVDs - you get better quality video plus menus and other advanced features (eg. caption/description track for the slideshow that you can turn on/off like normal subtitles).Comment

The best option in your case is to use VCD Easy...its the best possible VCD burning tool..which obviously NERO is not.
If I remember correctly it has a full function Trial version: http://www.vcdeasy.org/modules.php?n...RFYXN5X0ZyZWU=
I suggest that you use this program and burn a new CD-R and see whether you problem is solved.
One more thing, in your stand alone player can you play any other commercial VCD [if you have any]?Comment
