Older versions of VirtualDub - v.1.3 or EARLIER - will accept .ASF files for input and convert them to .AVI format...

setarip, thks a lot. but when i tried opening a few files, there was an error. the error message is something like this "ASF: parse error-- too many segments in packet at _ _ _(_ expected) packet size =_ _ _, send time _:_ _" the blanks r there cos any number could be put in. so....wat does the message mean?

        1) Are you able to play the .ASF files?

        2) Did you download them froma streaming site, which may have added password protection to the files, in order to prevent copying/editing?

        3) You could try loading them in to TMPGEnc...
