choosing right video format and size

I want to purchase some royalty free video clips and than make a video which is going to be present on YouTube and Myspacetv.

Is better to purchase video in mpeg or QuickTime Placer format? I will edit those clips with Ulead MediaStudio and convert video to best format for youtube and myspacetv.

Some videos are in size of 320x180 and 640x360 so not like youtube format which is 320x240. Is any difference in quality if I suit 320x180 to 320x240 or suit 640x360 to 320x240? Which one size is better to suit or is it about the same?

If you have a good conversion program, it shouldn't matter what format you buy the clips in.

If you require 320x240 but have different szie originals, then re-encode to that size. You will get black bars either on the side or top/bottom.

Please do note the copyrights on the clips and as well, your rights, if any, to rebroadcast them.

I can not cut anything and also I can not place black bars because video will be consist also of 320x240 clips. So only solution I have is to enlarge width or reduce height without cutting or putting black bars.

So is better to reduce height than enlarging width?
