    LG GSA-H22L can't burn 2x or lower

    Hello
I'm new to this forum and I was hoping if you could help me figure out how to work this out. The LG GSA-H22L says it supports 1x and 2x write speeds for a DVD-R, however, even though I've updated the firmware to 1.02 and tried various (Alcohol 120%, Nero 6) I can't seem to get a 1x or 2x burn option. I'm using Verbatims DVD-R 4.7 GB that are supposed to be compatible with 1x to 16x burners. Anyone has any idea how to solve my problem?

    Thanks a lot!

    welcome to the forum

whoever informed you the best burns are at 1 or 2x was mistaken and badly out of date

what makes a good burn is 4 to 8x or even 12x with premium media

Are your slowest burns not working now?

Well the thing is that I want to make game backups for my slim PS2 which is more delicate than the regular one, so it needs more care. Also the people who modded it for me told me I should only burn at 2x or under but those slow burns, I can't seem to be able to access them, the slowest i can get is 4x, but my dvd write is supposed to be able to write at 1x and 2x.

the media tables in your firmware determine the allowable speeds, the modders evidently don't understand that

So what can i do to burn at 1x or 2x? Do i have to get a new burner that is compatible, caus the LG GSA-H22L is supposed to be able to burn at those speeds, I just don't know how to get it to do that.

You have a good burner, burn at 4X

browse a little here and then enlighten your modders
