Toshiba RD-XS32SB Initialize trouble

Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a make of DVD-RW that will initialize in my Toshiba RD-XS32SB HDD/DVD Recorder? I cant find any that work, even Panasonic DVD-Ram refuses to initialize.
DVD-Rs work ok as does pre-recorded films, and the HDD feature is fantastic. I bought the machine through a popular auction site, so I dont want to get into any argy bargy with bad feedback etc. I would sooner find out if I can sort the problem for myself first.

assuming this is the same family of recorders, quite an old model and firmware updates are probably necessary for newer media, unfortunately that seems a can of worms.

did you buy the unit used?

Hello my friend,
I bought it ex display, the seller said that it needs to use Toshibas own make DVDs, but I cant find where to buy them. They say Toshiba sell them, but where? They dont say, and are getting quite bullish.
Will check out the link you suggested.
