know of any tools to take a still (jpg) and make it into a small mpg video?

the software that came with my new tuner card is pretty sucky and can do this stuff except make stills to video.

Do you mean something like a slide show type deal for your jpgs ? If so I think flash slide show maker will do this for you.I even think it will allow you to burn it to a DVD.I think it offers a free and pay one. If am wrong with want you want I am sorry for wasting your time I am not sure how to add text to videos and what not

Virtualdub can make an avi out of a jpeg.
And your favourite TMPGEnc can make a mpg out of jpg.

I use Ulead Video Studio.Excellent.

I'd use muxman to make them into a DVD if that's what you're looking for, looie. Just feed the BMPs, browse to a compatible audio file (MP2, AC3) and press start.

ty all, but just earlier i was mesing around with what i have and i got the hang of it and i can do the things i need now, also found mp3directcut to be useful again and discovered how to make a nice avi out of a jpg with ulead gif animator. so i'm golden. sorry for the hassle fellas.

btw paglamon, regarding vdub there and TMPGEnc, can you explain the procedure (briefly). i see output for image frames, not input...

Virtualdub:
File/Open Video File and point to the jpeg.This will be a single frame video.You will surely want it to play for sometime,say 10 sec.(or 250 frames at 25fps).With the frame open in VD just go on pressing Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.The frames will be duplicated and you will now have the desired number of frames.Then encode and save as avi.

TMPGEnc:
First make a PCM WAV audio file(silent or with sound)of your desired length with any sound editor.Now open the jpeg as done with VD.Now point to the jpeg as video source and the WAV audio file as the audio source.Encode and you will have the mpg equal to the audio length.

btw, for some reason vdub won't copy and paste the frame to duplicate. the keys don't do anything. certain version of vdub needed? i use 1.5.10

I use Virtualdub 1.7.6. You must have version 1.6 or later IIRC.
