    McAfee Reports.

This info was just passed to me by a friend a couple of minutes ago, so again I thought I would pass it along.

McAfee is reporting a large uptick in the number of Trojan adware installs via bogus MP3 files on file sharing networks. Masquerading as audio files with real-sounding names, the Trojans install adware on users' PCs. Once someone tries to open the files, they are asked to sign an end-user agreement and then the program installs two Trojan files - NetNucleus and Mirar. Once installed, the infected machines start serving up popup ads. Over the last 24 hours, McAfee reports that nearly one third of all McAfee clients reporting results back to the company have detected these files.

Good to know Soup. I don't file share at all and also do my own audio through some DJ freinds of mine. McAfee was a pita to uninstall. It came w/my dell. Lot of people and/or organizations use it though. Would you believe the NYPD computers are hooked up to IE and McAfee.
      SAMSUNG SH-S203B, SAMSUNG SH-S223F,

Take the suggestions and follow the directions. The results will speak for themselves.

      Google is definitely our friend.

all they did was rename the wma's to mp3's and seed on limewire

anyone with mediaplayer as the default mp3 player will get an IE window open that tells them they need to install a special player for that mp3, I can't believe that many people are falling for it

a dead giveaway is the mp3's have no tags

            soulseek ftw!

This has actually been going on for a while I think....bogus files asking for special players and license activation via dodgy sites.
