subs merge into avi

    subs merge into avi

    Is it possible to merge the subs into the avi so that you get one
    (avi) file.
    Can anyone helpme with this?

    Yes this is possible.

    But you have to reencode the video. The subs has to be burned into the video image, and can't be removed. Use virtualdub and either the subtitler filter or the vobsub filter depending on the subtitles format.

    You can get the the subtitler filter at www.virtualdub.org , and the vobsub filter can be found at www.doom9.org

    But of course I think it would be much better to keep the subs seperate from the avi, unless you need to use a player that can't display the subs dynamically.

      I can not find any filter of that name in vobsub
      i have an movie(divx) and a *.srt file.
      Can you please specify how to put the subs into the avi

        I don't have any experience with that defunct format, but basically you need to convert the srt file to the ssa format using SRTtoSSA, you can that from here http://www.divx-digest.com/software/...html#subtitles

        Then you need to load the ssa file into the subtitlerfilter in virtualdub. I'am sure that these tool contain docs on how to do this.
