I searched the forums including for the word "storyboard" but didn't find anything that helped.
In a nutshell, I'm writing a screenplay for a movie, and for promotional purposes intend to have the movie storyboarded in real time. Essentially I'll end up with a 2-hour DVD with a soundtrack and sketches/still-images displayed at irregular intervals. I don't envisage having any moving video, only stills. Here's what I envisage doing:-
a) Create a soundtrack incorporating a reading of the script, with some sound effects and the score. This would ideally be a single 'file' and chapterised for ease of access to scenes (in a similar way to that in which DVDs of movies are chapterised). It may be easier to initally create a seperate file for each scene and merge them later?
b) Draw sketches with a graphics tablet (I don't have one yet, but a Wacom Bamboo Fun was what I had in mind). Import the sketches at irregular intervals into the 'movie'. Other pictures/images may also be needed (stuff I haven't drawn myself).
c) Do copious editing over the next months/years.
d) Eventually burn the 'movie' onto a DVD with a simple chapter menu.
So,
i) What software should I use as the overall editor/builder of the 'movie'? Freeware would be ideal but I'm happy to pay money if there's a commercial package that's better.
ii) Might I be able to draw sketches from the tablet directly into the 'movie' or am I likely to need to go via a picture editor e.g. Photoshop?
If anyone has done anything like this before then any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!
