hi i just purchased a minidv camcorder panasonic gs85 ( tell me if it sucks ) n i wanted to connect it to the computer but the usb is only for the still pics so my question is .
    should i but a firewire ?
or buy a video card n record it by the software that comes with it ( i mean the video card ) .
im really considering the video card .
pls tell me witch 1 has the better quality .

Without any doubt. Firewire will let you "transfer" the video from camera to PC without any encoding during the process. I have the SONY HC 96E and always transfer my recordings this way using WinDV.

Firewire is for video, usb is for stills.
      You raise the blade,
      You make the change,
You rearange me till I'm sane.
You lock the door, throw away
      the key,
      There's someone in my head
      and it's not me.

Sorry about that, was actually testing it on a closed forum to update the forum software to 3.7.3, so it wasn't this thread that was updated.
