How Do I Open The C:\pagefile system

    Starting the file scan:

    Begin scan in 'C:\'
    C:\pagefile.sys
[WARNING] The file could not be opened!

End of the scan: Saturday, November 29, 2008 21:12
    Used time: 11:18 Minute(s)

The above partial log is from the AVIRA ANTIVIRUS scan which gave a warning message that the pagefile.sys could not be opened. I have the computer set to show all hidden files.

The computer did not even show on the C drive pagefile.sys. How do I find this file system and how do I open it?

    P.S.
Doing a search I found the files
    PAGEFILE.VB_ c\i386 19kb VB_FILE
Pagefileconfig c\i386 164kb VBScript Script File
    Pagefileconfig c\windows\system 32 164kb VBScript SCript File

Looks like they were designed not to be messed with?

Is it a hidden file, and that is why you can't see it when you search for it.

        stupid programs

page files are never meant to be opened, it's just an area of the hard drive that's mapped and reserved for windows to use if real ram starts running low

malware will run in real memory

now I have heard about trying to keep it defragged but page files are best when never used

That's not a file you can 'open'. If you want to see it, it's on the root of your drive. (C:\pagefile.sys) It's not only hidden, but it's also a system file so you would have to set your options to show both hidden and system files. Why the heck would you want to mess with it anyway? Not even defrag can touch that file as long as windows is running.

I was just wanting to check it out, because it showed up as a warning in Avira antivirus, and Avira said it could not open.

            I will leave it alone.

            Thanks for your help
