Help-Shrinking VOB Files w/ DVDShrink or Other

Hi,
I haven't been on this forum for a while now so I'm not up on the latest and greatest. I had consistantly been using DVDShrink to shrink my vob files to a burnable 4.7 gig size iso. image file. However, last night when I tried to use it for this purpose it gave me a MS error and the option of debugging (which didn't work either). I uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.
1. Has anyone encountered this also?
2. And... is there any other reliable (freeware) software that can shrink and convert to a burnable 4.7 iso. image file as well? I use imgburn to make my playable dvd.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi jagsr71

We're sorry we can't help on DVD Shrink anymore (see rule 19). Other transcoding solutions exist as do encoding ones (higher quality but takes more time). I can thoroughly recommend DVD Rebuilder for the latter - there is a freeware version.

For the former, most are payware now - Ner0 Rec0de (comes with Ner0 suite), DVD2One, DVDFab etc.

I apologize for having you needlessly deal with this post. After I had posted I started to peruse the new forum rules (especially rule 19) and quickly realized the dire situation that we now have at hand. You and the rest of the administrators have your hands full at this moment. It is indeed a sad moment for us all. I hope you're all successful in the endeavor of keeping this awesome forum open.
I will certainly look into your suggestion of DVD Rebuilder in order to see what it's compression capabilities are like.
I would also like to thank you for always having been so willing to help me and many others on this forum for so many years. You have always answered my questions and I think I speak for many others when I say that you have always been the consummate gentleman. We have learned immensely from many like yourself.

I think you'll find DVDRB really good (although since it encodes from scratch, it will take longer than the transcoders you are used to - but the quality is really 2nd to none).
