Premiere Pro help

I have an MPEG2 HD video I recorded from my HD Cam

it all works fine, I can play the video in Windows Media Player and it plays both the audio and video just fine

import it into premiere and it only plays the video but not audio! Any ideas why?
also how can I add a seperate audio track and make it play along with the video?

worst comes to worst..... what other software can allow me to do some editing like delete parts of the video/audio and add graphics to the video?

I have premiere cs3 if you have your film on the timeline it shows you video on the top line and audio on the lower, so you can see straight away if you have audio. If its empty you can import music files, edit them in the clip window then drag them down to the audio timeline.
