Hi everyone, first time here. First let me say that I have very very little knowledge in DV. I shot an avi on my digital cam. and deleted it by accident. I have recovery soft ware (Mingo) that I have used with some sucess in the past. The file was recovered but woulden't play. I have tried to use a couple of repair tools (AVI previwer, Digital Video Repair, and All Media Fixer) but they say that the file is not an AVI. This is a file that I would really like to save. I look forward to any advise.

You can try DivFix and AviDemux
In AviDemux under Edit=>Preferences Automation Tab check all the boxes.
Then open the file. If it's packed or needs the index rebuilt it will do it
automatically. Then just save. -
Was the file recovered to the same partition where it was deleted? I'm not familiar with Mingo but a lot of times the free recovery version recovers to the same partition and the pro version makes you recover someplace else to avoid overwrite.Comment

I think there's a freeware called 4cc changer or something that lets you put the media type code in the file. That may not help if the information in the file is hosed but it shouldn't hurt anything to try it.Comment
