    Paglamon, I did as you ask in your post: the text file just showed complete file name,the path, and file size. What do you think?
    Only size ? And nothing else ? No mention about file type,codec,bitrate etc. ? Please post the exact screenshot of the Mediainfo window.

              It is an .avi but must be missing a part of the file that identifys it as such. Its a 922 meg file so I know the data is there it must have something missing. The question is what? and how to repair it?

                Because the extension says it as .avi does not mean that it IS an avi file. Also,in Windows Explorer,under Tools/Folder Options/View do you have "hide extensions for known file types" ticked ? If it is checked,then,uncheck it.
