Looks like Canada will still be in business.
No, our Canadian operations will continue. They are not affected by the liquidation of Circuit City's U.S. operations. The Canadian operations employ approximately 3,000 associates.
Sorry to see another one go. Hopefully Best Buy will hold strong.

I never cared for Circuit City much anyway... their stuff is all overpriced and the service is terrible. Not that I like Best Buy much either... Micro Center is the way to go for computer stuff. And for movies and video games, most often now I just use Target or Wal-Mart... they seem to have all the same stuff the media stores do.
I just gotta hope the 2-year warranty I bought for my Zune still holds up... I read that they're still guaranteeing the warranties... but previously they would give you a Circuit City gift card so you could get another product, what good will that do now?CYA Later:

CircuitCity always has high prices. I was looking for a Logitech MX Revolution. $109 at CC and $99 at Best Buy and $99 MSRP on the Logitech website. CC couldnt give me a reason for their high price and would not price match it.You raise the blade,

It's $100 at Micro Center too.
Guess that's one of the products they don't have super-cheap.
I got a Samsung DVD burner (two of them, actually) for $24.99 there... the cheapest burner I could find at Best Buy went for around $60. Pssh, forget MSRP.CYA Later:

Well if you bought extended warranties, does that mean that they are no longer valid.Star Baby Girl, Born March,1997 Died June 30th 2007 6:35 PM.Comment

The answer is actually no, it is a third party vendor.Star Baby Girl, Born March,1997 Died June 30th 2007 6:35 PM.Comment

I know, but I mean... previously they'd give you a Circuit City gift card with the value you paid for the product to begin with.
Now are they just gonna issue a check or something?CYA Later:

The extended warranty that is purchased for any product will still be in effect and will be handled by the third party issuer. I believe that is how it was handled previously.Star Baby Girl, Born March,1997 Died June 30th 2007 6:35 PM.Comment

I bought a heck of a deal of a laptop from "Best Buy" and all the Gurus of a Forum that I check into once in a while ... talked me into buying a 3 year Geek Squad Warranty.
In the hind site ... what a waste of money ... even though I have about 2 1/2 more years to go ... oh well!!!
After your comment I am hoping the BB does not go belly up or you guys have to pass the hat around and make up my loss of $129.99.
BTW, what kind of darn "Going out of Business" Sale CC is running ... only 10% OFF ... are they off their Rockers!!!

Gonwk, the extended warranty that you purchased was it the one that also cover liquid spills and also physical damage to the screen is also. If it is that one, I would have purchased it too. If BB did go belly upthe you would lose your extended warranty.
All of Geek Squad extended warranties go down to Tennesee. That is the new repair facility that was built. There is no in store laptop repairs, with the exception hard drive replacement and memory upgrades and replacement.Last edited by doctorhardware; 20 Jan 2009, 05:50 AM.Star Baby Girl, Born March,1997 Died June 30th 2007 6:35 PM.Comment

You are determined to "Ruin my Day" aren't you.
Unfortunately it is not the Spill one they wanted even MORE $ for that one. But, if my laptop somehow gets too hot and gets cooked up (playing Gmaes & what not) ... they will repair it and if they can't they will replace it with something available at the time!
Also, I htink I have a 1 time Battery Charger replacement with this. And that might come handy since my LG AC Battery Charger runs awfully HOT ... compare to my Dell's AC Charger.
Thanks,

Not the charger but the battery, the charger can be replace as many times as needed during the extended warranty period. So what I would do is to have the battery replace before the extended warranty expires. I know the battery charger for my Acer gets very very hot also. If I do buy a new laptop, and if I do get it from BB, I will buy the physical damage extended warranty. But actually I am looking at a MSI laptop, and I thinking about getting it with the AT dedicated video card with 512 meg dedicated memory. Which I think it is expandable. I had a customer that would short out the power supply once a year to get a new power supply.Star Baby Girl, Born March,1997 Died June 30th 2007 6:35 PM.Comment
