Downloading Free PS3 Games Through the PC

Would it be a good idea to download free PS3 games through the PC, burn them to a disc and install them from the disc to the PS3? The reason why I'm asking is because the PS3 is so slow at downloading. It seems to take ten minutes just to download 20% of something at about 650MB's. Things like that will download much quicker in my PC.

You can download and install updates that way, but through USB drives, rather than CD/DVDs. I've never heard of any place where you can download free games before, legally I mean - don't you pretty much have to go through the PS store?

When the PS3 came out and long before I could afford it, I had so many people bragging that we can download free games, music and movies. When I got the PS3 I never found any of that. With the game side, free games are demos (so I'd love to know where the free stuff is even though I knew nobody gives anything away but I assumed there was a secret site). The other day I paid for a game through the PS3 internet and I found out I downloaded and installed a trial. Now I have to await for a refund on my credit card.

I'll do other things through a memory stick.
