Best way to cut .vob files for emailing small clips?

Hello. I've posted a few times and with the help of Les and others, I can now can burn DVD's, upload DVDs to my hard drive, and view both on the computer. I even have software to edit video files uploaded from DVDs to a single DVD.

There is one other thing I'd really like to do. I want to cut out one play from a football game uploaded from DVD to .vob format so I can email it in video file format to family for viewing straight from their inbox. So far, everything I have learned to do deals with uploading and viewing or burning to DVDs. What is the best way to edit .vob files and resave as smaller .vob files of maybe 10 second clips to email?

    Thanks.

    Try VideoReDo or AVIDemux.

Or a tiny little app called cutfile - get it from the VobBlanker site.

You should only use genuine Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. Many thanks to www.pcx.com.au for their supply and great service.

After reading the descriptions of the three editing software versions above, I downloaded avidemux. I can cut and save video files in AVI or mpeg (no .wmv option) on my desktop, and it is VERY easy to do so. There are three drop down boxes on the left to use in setting format, etc. for saving a video file: VIDEO, AUDI and FORMAT. I set the VIDEO and AUDIO to "copy," and FORMAT to MPEG-PS (A&V) because it's the only one that works. The AVI files don't work on my media players, the MPEG-TS plays distorted sound and video, and MPEG Video has no audio. When I name the file, I need to type in the extension (no problem, but want to be sure using mpeg or mpg is fine). I can then save a file to the desktop and watch the clip fine through either Windows Media Player or VLC media player. However, when I email it to myself to test whether it works through email so my friends can see my clips, WindowsMedia tries to connect, but then pops up a gray box that says "Windows Media encountered an unknown error." When I close out that gray box, Windows Media player is still there. I can then click on open, and go to the file that the video clip is stored on my computer, and it works fine. I have no idea why Windows Media Player has problems pulling up the video attached to email, but not the same video from the computer??

In case this info is useful, when I set my default media player through the control panel, it gives me two options: current media player, and Windows Media Player. Selecting either one doesn't cure the ill I just described.

I also emailed a clip to my brother, who was able to view the clip through his RealPlayer. If there's a quick fix for the Windows Media Player to be able to play the video clip just by clicking on the video attachment in an email, please let me know. I could try one of the other editing software listed above, but really like Avidemux 2.4 if it can be worked out.

BTW, uploading the video clips to facebook and youtube is very easy and works fine, it's just having confidence that most people can play the clips I create through their email without much difficulty!
