Power Director 7 (help please)

I'm running Windows XP with Power Director 7. When I "trim" or split the file, I loose the picture to the right of the split but not the audio (it becomes a solid green background). It's like once the clip looses the information attached to the very beginning of the file, it looses the picture.

Any help would be very appreciated.

I figured it out:

If you convert .avi to .wmv everything works like a champ.
