I watch a lot of FLV videos that I have saved to my computer. I have always used the program "FLV Player" from martijndevisser .com/blog/flv-player/ (remove the space before .com. My account is new and I can't post links)
I like this player and have no problems with it, but I was wondering why it would use more CPU than Windows Media Player to play the same video.
I have the latest standard version of the "K-Lite" codecs with all default settings and when I play an FLV file with WMP it only uses around 5-10% of my CPU.
When I play the same file with "FLV Player" it uses around 30% with "video smoothing" and "maintain framerate in full screen" off. If I check both options it will use around 60-70% CPU.
Thats a big difference. All CPU readings were done with video playing in full screen. Anyone know why this is. I like the layout and controls of "FLV Player" better and would prefer to use it if it used less CPU.
