Cannot get a high quality image with Flask EPEG 0.594 or 0.6 Preview. Please help!

I'm ripping-off a DVD with one-pass method because I have only divX 3.1 Alpha installed. If I install divX5.0, the audio of the replay will be out of sync.

The problem is that no matter how much the bit rate I set, I cannot get a high quality image. I tried 1500, 1800, even 3000 with codec divx fast motion. But the output file size is alwayse small and poor quality image. Any way that I can have a high quality? I don't care about the size of the output file.

Thanks in advance for your expertise!

Another thing. You WILL NEVER get high-quality image with fast-motion codec, simply because it discards details. Use low-motion instead and use 2-pass encoding methods.

I reinstalled DivX Codec 5 and set decoder's quality level to Min and now I can get a synchronized playback. Does that mean that my computer (PIII 500MHz, 512Mb memory) is too slow?

Thanks a lot for your kind help!

A P500 is almost the minimum system configuration needed for a smooth playback, so it is no wonder you cannot get good playback with filters enabled. You should also use a lower video resolution for your encodes so that the system can cope better with playback (and hopefully you can enable a little bit more of filtering )
