I wonder who could ever need that quality except in professional studios. No human could hear frequences higher than 20kHz, most adults only reach 12-16kHz. MP3 uses a kind of 8-bit sound and it's still very good. I also recognized that in the last few years/months the sound-quality of most pop-music-cds is much lower than it could technicaly be. Only interesting thing might be a multichanal-DVD-A.don't trust in guides -
yeah, i understand what you are saying about the limitations of human hearing range. I'm actually a big analog purist however i've been corrupted by the convience of digital audio. the capability of 5.1 channel mixing is what i'm most interested in.
I can notice a difference in the quality of DVD-A to CD audio and such. since the human hearing range at best is limited to 17kHz at most, the higher sampling rate and bit depth provide better defined harmonics of the vocals and instruments, thus reproducing the closest to a true analog signal as possible.....of course good speakers are another very important factor! I hope in the future to see DVD-A and DVD video take advantage of the fullest available sample rates DVD has to offer of 192 kHz.
Does anybody know of a DVD-A software player to use with a compliant sound card?
I'm just a man who appreciates the finer things in life like a vintage merlot, a fine cut of filet mignon, suede automobile interior, and 24bit/96kHz/5.1 channel digital audio.Comment
