Hi, I have recently downloaded some videos encoded with xvid that I can't play. When trying to play the file in WMP9, it crashes with an access violation (memory could not be "read"). I tried the following combinations
Nimo Codec
Nimo Codec and regsvr32 /u ffdshow.ax
Nimo and ffdshow
just ffdshow (uninstalled Nimo)
3ivx
When I completely uninstalled Nimo and ffdshow, installed 3ivx and restarted, the video played for about 20 minutes and then crashed with the "memory could not be read" thing again, and now crashes each time I try to play the video. I have tried other players like Media Player Classic, NVDVD, zoomplayer, but these either stall, crash, or show static with the correct audio.
I tried GSPOT, which says that the video is xvid, and reports that
3 compatible codecs are installed:
XviD MPEG-4 Codec
XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder
3ivx D4 Video Decoder
When I try to render with Directshow in GSPOT it reports that the rendering was successful using XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder.
System Info:
WinXP SP1
geforce fx with forceware 52.16 drivers
Thanks.
