ASF Conversion for Mac

I have a realitivly cheap DV Camcorder(that doesn;t have firewire) and it saves video files in .asf which doesn't seem to work with iMovie or Final Cut Pro I was wondering if any of you know how I can convert or extract the file into a different format for hopefully a minimal cost.
