    Best Online Video Format

What formats do people use when they are going to upload videos to YouTube, metacafe, break, etc?

I use Quicktime h264 and it looks ok on most sites. But some (YouTube) just suck. Is that just because YouTube encodes badly, or should I compress differently on my end?

The bigger the file, the better. If it's short enough, try using HuffYUV lossless codec, usually I use XviD quantizer 1 or 2.

YouTube's new HD format usually looks pretty good, but I talked to some people outside America who said it didn't work for them. If you're in Europe you may just have to wait for YouTube to catch up.
