    Recode BookType & Burn Error "Illegal Disk"

    Hello,

    I am using the Recode version 2.2.6.11 and have a few configuration and error questions.

    #1) While viwing the [Burn Settings, Options] I have found a control named [DVD Book Type settings]. This control default value is Automatic. I have found that when I leave this setting at automatic, that at the very end of the burn session [finalizing disk], I receive the error message [Illegal disk]. The disk was ripped [file mode with DVD Decrypter ver 3.5.4.0].

    However, when I set the Book Type mode to DVD-ROM, the disk burns with no errors. I am using TDK 8X DVD-R disks. Each time I set this control to DVD-Rom, exit and then re-enter the program it has defaulted back to automatic.

    Additionally, the Nero Recode burn speed setting default value is set to [maximum]. If I leave this setting at [maximum], the disk burns at 4X. However, if I change the speed setting to 8X, which is the speed of the TDK media, the disk burns without errors at 8X.

    I am unable to change the default values of the above captioned settings. I have also looked for an Recode.INI file that I might be able to edit to control these default values. There is not one that I could locate.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank You,

    Have you actually compared the amount of time taken to burn at each of these settings?

      Thanks for the reply setarip.

      I have just concluded a performance test, starting with full reboot between tests usig TDK 8X -R media. The total elapsed time(s) are as follows:

      [Maximum] defaults to 4X Manual selected speed 8X
      Total time = 11:50 Total time = 8:03

      Total seconds = 710 Total seconds = 483

      I suspect that disk finalization and other none speed related overhead ,contributes to total time resuts which dilute the actual performance gains somewhat.

      In reply to your question, the speed is not what some may think it should be (double or 100%), however from my perspective the performance increase is substantial.

      Thanks again for your reply;

      Mark
