weellll....
So... some of you claim that the lastest Recode produces better quality than DVD Shrink 3.2 (DA+AEC:Sharp)? Which would mean, that dvdshrink (the author) has improved his transcoding alorithm in the last Recode versions. I can't recall reading something like that in Recode's changelogs though...
I would be very nice to see some comparisons or screenshots for proof (both tools of course with absolut identical settings). Because at this point I just can't believe it, sorry...
Maybe someone close could drop dvdshrink an email and ask him if he has improved Recode's output quality recently. If that's true, that really would be something...

Optimization question
Hello All,
I'm new to this forum but definitely not new to the technology. Anyways, I'm a happy DVD Shrink user and have recently begun using the adaptive error compensation feature. From what I have gathered, using the sharp option sharpens up the images but makes more of a choppiness between frames and the smooth option creates a smooth frame transition but lessens the sharpness. So how are we to decide which option to choose? I would think that for fast paced movies such as actions you would want the smooth option selected as the camera and the subjects in the camera often move very fast which would require smooth frame transition. But on the same hand, you would also want sharp images to view everything as well. In my eyes so far, I just choose the Sharp(default) option for everything, assuming that maximumsharpness would make everything overly choppy and the smooth option would make everything to dull looking. I guess I just need to run more tests to see what works best but I would really appreciate anybody's opinions if they have tested these options themselves.
Thanks a lot!

You know what he/Nero ought to do? Be a real killer thing for the app.
And that is integrate MenuShrink with Recode. The still pix function often turns out lame and jerky and as we know, still image doesn't work. But if he integrated MS, that would be fantastic.
I'm sure jeanl would sell the code to Nero for a small price. After all, he's giving the app away now to the community.
Since chetwood seems to be able to contact dvdshrink, maybe he should suggest it?

It's not a big hassle to do it manually before shrinking, but if it were actually distributed with recode, the whole DVD backing up community and not just us and the doom9 folks would know about it.
