      "or saw blue grass?"

      Anyone who's watched movies made in the 40's and 50's ;>}

      By the way, you'll see a clear hint of what's coming if you examine the initial "Warner Bros." logo...

          Maybe since the idiot director likes old movie methods he should have made a magic lantern slide show. We could have all lit our candles and strained our eyes to see an image on the wall. I guess my point is that I am surrounded by all this high tech equipment and here comes an idiot director who wants to make all my equipment useless. At first I quite honestly thought there was something wrong with the DVD or my equipment. He may still have a little house with a crescent cut on the door and use red and white corn cobs, but I choose not to. How this abortion won five academy awards is beyone me.

            from one of your links

            "In an early portion of the movie, the color blue appears in a number of unexpected places. Scorsese had some of the images altered to change green to blue in order to partially simulate early two-tone Technicolor movies"

            this was pretty obvious. i think it's a wonderful touch. i always hated green anyway, god bless scorcese. hopefully "the departed" will have the same....

            you can always use the dvd as a doorstop or take it to a pawn shop.

              Watched the whole movie tonight from the original DVD, the grass is blue then it's green then its blue...and the other colors in the scenes look fine, far from a two tone scene. I could see the old time look, what is it sepia or something like that, or black and white....but blue instead of green aargggggggghhhhhhhhh!

              The movie was good....he was sorta brainwashed in the tub....q.u.a.r.a.n.t.i.n.e....The human mind is amazing and fragile.

              Edit - DVDD 3.5.4.0 ripped it fine

                  I know I read it in the link and your other post ....but they look far from two color technicolor to me.

                    I guess no one noticed the colored flames in the black and white "Hell's Angels" screening scene...

                      i'll tell you what folks, i didn't suspect a thing wrong with this movie, because only certain hues were amiss. other tones were dead on, so my deduction was...."this is how the film was made"

                          Colored flames ..yup and the little orbs floating around..the orange things flying up with the blue plants when the plane crashes in the field...and the part with the calipers on the breastises...

                          I still think the guy that did the color was on somethng and Scorsese didn't want to redo it

                            Well I'll be...I to recently copied The Aviator and had the exact same blue problem. I did notice that about half way through the movie the colors appeared to be normal. Glad to at least see it was not a problem with my T.V. or DVD player

                              There is no "problem". The colors were intentionally "stylized" to resemble earlier movie film colors...

                                perhaps this non-existent color "problem" should be a sticky......
