This is pretty much how I burn all my DVDs. I would chabge to Verbatims though. The Riteks are very iffy and you will almost certainly get variability in burn quality.

You should only use genuine Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. Many thanks to www.pcx.com.au for their supply and great service.

you may want to ask blutach, I just know how to explain it, few across movies latetly have no problem so ever read with dvdd but it may give you dark screen few minutes, audio can't hear..etc..but problem solve if run through volblanker or pcgedit then problem is not there any more

Thanks for responding!!! What I don't understand is what do you mean by "across movies"?

            sony's evil protection

            from cynthia's guide

            ARccOSâ„¢

Invented by Sony and introduced during the year 2004.

The protection system relies on 'bad sector headings' on sectors which are marked as never to be read. In a way, its throw back to the very first copy protection on floppies, which had bad sectors on them and made your FDD clank (and sometimes break!).

To deal with this problem a decryption program inserts dummy sectors - not proper sectors but just dummies (2048 bytes of 0xFF) - where these bad sectors are.

In DVD Decrypter this protection goes under the name 'Structure Protection'. The layout of these 'bad sector headings' can vary between different released DVDs and to solve decrypting problems with new released DVDs - DVD Decrypter uses a 'Protected Sectors List (PSL) File'.

Thanks detective! The running boy syndrome....I didn't realize that's what he was talking about. Now that I have a system down I should be good to go. Too bad DVDD quit getting updated. It is/was a great program for backing up your DVD's.

I lost 9 Dual Layer disc to this problem. Only copy was complete & perfect. The rest were ejected as soon as Nero began copying on the 2nd layer.

Verbatim worked like a charm! Thank you. Too bad I found out late. The Dual Layer disc made by Dynex destroyed my Plextor DVD drive. I had to buy another one.
