I have two drives and I do not store the movies on my HD past viewing them on my stand alone player, which sometimes may be a couple of days. I do it because it helps to prevent coasters and increases the burn quality. As for your friend, I do not know what to say, other than just because a disc plays does not mean it is a quality burn, or even that it will play on another player.

I can see the coaster argument. Also, if it wont burn from disc then it'll not only give ya a coaster but also end up taking longer.

Thanks for your input. I just wanted to be clear as to why
you would not want to burn from disc.

I suppose I'll get used to ripping then as I learn more maybe I can get brave and direct burn.

And I have 2 250GB Hd's so I could rip them and burn them at my convenience.

Well good luck with the rip and enjoy the program.

Think about one thing before you get brave, it only take a few minutes to burn a disc @8x, the amount of time you would save is insignificant. The downsides are not.
