easydivx hangs up on me!!!!

I'm a begginer in this dvd-ripping thing... and decided to start out using easydivx. Maybe that's my first mistake...

When it reaches "multiplexing" the progression bar won't progress, thoug the "Current file size" does. After the Current and Predicted file size are equal, my hard disk keeps on working, "time elapsed" keep on elapsing, and it can go on like that for ages......

WHAT'S WRONG????? will it finish some day??

Should i try a different software??
