Can only capture in PCM in VirtualDub

I have a problem with VDub, I am only able to capture in PCM Wav when capturing, whenever I try and capture in MP3 or Ogg Vorbis, it always makes an error and close VDub down....

Does anyone know why this happends???

And another thing I never have been able to figure out about MP3, when I make the Bitrate... lets say 320, then some of the sound's like thunder sound great, but everything else sound metallic... why is that?

    I have a Soundblaster Live! 5.1 soundcard
And a Pinnacle PCTV Rave Capture card

The best way to go about encoding audio is to do it after you have encoded the video in real time. I am using win98 and i normally encode the video in realtime and then do the audio after.. only takes about 10 minutes for a 2 hour movie.

The problem is not that it takes time afterwards the problem is that uncompressed Wav is about 1 gig for an 2 hour movie and I would like to capture in MP3 to lower the file size in the capture, I reencode the movie afterwards anyway
