Codec Problems :-(

Hi,

here is the whole story - I got a divX movie which I couldn´t open with VD or TMPGEnc. I figured out that it needs some XVID codec so I googled and finally installed the NIMO pack.

Okay so now I can play the movie which runs perfect and load the movie into VD but TMPGEnc gives me the error "Write error occurred at address 77F436F7 of module `ntdll.dll`with 00000000.

As soon as I try to convert with VD the sound gets out of synch real bad. I was not able to find out how many secs it runs ahead.

I try to add 2 screenshots from my Audio and Video Codecs because I have no idea which one I need, which one I should delete and maybe I have to add some!

Please can anybody help...I am getting nuts

This sounds like the audiotrack is in VBR Mp3 which VDub cannot handle.

Try loading the .avi in NanDub instead.

okay I downloaded ND v1.0rc2 build 1853 - is that okay?

here is the procedure I usually do converting the divX

- Mark 50% of the movie
- Video = Direct Stream Copy
- Audio = Full processing Mode / No compression (PCM)
- Save as avi

delete the 50% and do the same for the reamining half

from there I import the 2 avi´s into TMPGEnc to make (S)VCD´s

Is that correct ?

1.Load file in NanDub and Save WAV (EDIT : You will have to convert the outputted mp3 to wav).
2.Set Video tab to Direct Stream Copy and Audio tab to No Audio,and Save avi.
3.In TMPGEnc load the .avi in Video source and audio in audio source.

Use MPEG Tools in TMPGEnc (Merge & Cut) to split the mpeg.

okay I figured out that I have to do both the Ausio and the Video with Direct Stream Copy...

when I try to load this file into TMPGEnc I get a blank enty in the audio field.....

when I do convert the .avi´s again with Direct Stream Video and No Compression Audio and load them into TMPGEnc I get this ntdll error again...

what do I have to do with those 2 .avi parts I got from ND?

If you went thru the steps I wrote you will get 1 .avi and 1 .wav(which is mp3 and you will have to convert it to .wav.)

Note that I have edited the procedure, and that you may allready have read the post before I've edited.

okay I did seperately convert the mp3 to wav (I guess I did it right because the former .wav out of ND was 110 mb´s and now I got the real .wav with 1,2 GB)

Starting TMPEGnc and choose only the video without any audio, then choose the huge .wav file, perform all my VCD settings and when I hit the start button I get this:

"The error occured when ACM was initialized"

What does that mean? I really start to wonder why people can´t stick to the DivX codecs which are common....

I'm almost 100% sure that the sampling rate of the .wav is 48000Hz.Use a Wave editor (I used Sound Forge) and change the sampling rate to 44100Hz.I tested TMPGEnc with a 48000Hz .wav and got the same error, but after converting to 44100Hz........voila!

You certainly guessed right the sampling rate is 48000 and right now I am trying to get Sound Forge......

I do have to change the sampling rate from the .wav file...I mean the big one, right?

Is this feature hard to find in Sound Forge?

Oh boy I really hope that movie is worth all the action and your efforts

Yes

No. It's very easy.It takes a couple of minutes to load the original .wav and convert it.

EDIT : I just found out that you can use VDub for this task too.

1.Load the original .avi in VDub
2.Set Audio tab to Full Processing Mode
3.Under Conversion select 44,100Hz
4.Under Compression select No compression (PCM)
5.Save WAV...

Its true that it works when reencoding the sound file but why not just use the virtualDub that is able to use VBR MP3's??? and then frameserver the file to VDub

Tip: Resize in VirtualDub it's faster than TMPEnc

I got Sound Forge, did exactly as you described but still get those "ntdll.dll" and write errors in TMPEnc. But only with this xvid movie. I have read in other forums that many people do have problems with some sort of xvid .avi´s

thanks for the link. should I DL the latest virtualdub or the one which handles exlicit the mp3? can you tell me what kind of settings I have to use to do all in virtualdub beginning with the original .avi file?

Yes, I got that message too when I used TMPGEnc Plus, but not when I used the "standard" version (ver 2.50).
