mpeg-2(.mp2) to DivX using Flask

I'm having a problem encoding my mpeg-2 files(.mp2), which i created using my Ati All-In Wonder card, into DivX.

I'm using Flask MPEG. I have no problem encoding mpeg1 files.

I'm running Win 98, I have an AMD XP 1800+.
Are there any particular codecs I need?
Any suggestions?

When I load the mpeg-2 video, it loads into Flask just fine.
I choose my video and audio codecs and then choose Flask It.
When I try to flask it, the view output option is selected. However, the video image never changes. The frame rate goes up to 50 to 55 fps. The percentage completed stays at about .051%. It never makes any progess. I 've tried letting it Flask like this fore about an hour, but it never makes any progress.

Are you able to successfully play the original .MP2 file (video and audio), from start to finish?

If you're referring to playback outside of Flask, the answer is yes.
The videos playback just fine with audio and video.

When I open the .mp2 video within Flask, the video plays back, but at an accelerated rate. The video plays back at about 60 fps, without audio, and then the frame rate continues to increase.

I have attached an word document with a
"print screen" to show you what the Flask screen looks like during playback of a .mp2 file I have just created.

Try a simple experiment, as follows:

Open TMPGEnc
Then
File>>MPEGTools>>Merge&Cut
Load your .MP2 file
Set mode to "plain vanilla" MPEG-2 (NOT "MPEG2-SuperVideoCD")
Save with a new filename - with an ".MPG" extender

Try using this new file with Flask

TMPGEnc converted my .mp2 file, I opened up this file in Flask and it converted to DiVx just fine!

Your solution fixed my problem, but i want to know why this worked. What did we do to the original file that made it compatible with Flask?

Is there another program to do this same process with?
I don't really want to pay $48 for TMPGenc!.

Essentially, TMPGEnc created a standard, recognizable MPEG-2 header for the file.

Well, you could pay $2,000 for Cinema Craft Encoder ("CCE")... ;>}

TMPGEnc is an extremely good value. If you DON'T intend to work with MPEG2 format, rather only with MPEG1 and MPEG1-VideoCD, there is a fully functional freeware version of TMPGEnc...
