    Smartripper Stream Processing

    Okay,

I've been using Smartripper and Flask to make DivX's for quite some time now without too many problems, but I haven't been able to find any information concerning stream processing in Smartripper. Can anyone give me any advice on the benefits of using stream processing? For example, what it does and what differences it makes to the encoding process/final avi.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    stream processing

    Hello Trancemaster,

I use stream processing for one thing: demux ac3 streams to individual files which permits to keep the 5.1 channels well separated.

This option is interesting when you want to just encode the movie (soundless) and after multiplexing it with the ac3 files you've obtained by stream processing.

But i haven't noticed any benefit (in time) during the film encoding, it still took me 5-6 hours.

Furthermore, i've read on Doom9's forum that using stream processing for audio enabled keeping the channels well separated and not merged like after a MP3 compression (with Besweet for ex).

    Bye
