Hi, Maybe you can try the software named WinAVI Video Converter http://www.winavi.com/video-converter.htm . In fact, it is a a complete solution for video file converting and burning. It can convert mpeg to dvd in 45 minutes with stunning video quality. and it is one of the most wonderful software that I have acrossed to.
Is your standalone player DivX compatible? I only ask as you've posted in the DivX forum.
If you're after a standard mpeg2 DVD then TMPGEnc DVD Author is a very popular (and free trial!) tool for the job.
Be warned though, downloaded movies are notorious for using different codecs and soundtracks.
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!
d/l and install Avicodec. Open your video/s and see if they are dvd standard. If not you will have to re-encode to a compliant dvd standard. I use Mainconcept or you can use a compliant encoder. I use Tmpgenc Dvd Author to make the necessary dvd files and Nero to burn.
