Is there any other software like VirtualDub that works with MP3 in addiction to WAV files?

VirtualDubMob handles mp3, ac3 as well as wav files.

maybe I haven't explained what exactly I want...

I wanna join a only-video AVI file and a MP3 file as its sound, like a song for that movie.

VirtualDub can open a movie with MP3 encoded sound but seems it cannot melt/join/mix a MP3 file to the final AVI file... only WAV is possible. (right?)

I've tried to find VirtualDubMob but had no success so far... is it a different version? an addon?
(I'm using VirtualDub 1.5.2 build 16189)
